Friends flock to the Ritz

Lots of people like the Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Naples.

Like on Facebook, that is.

The two Naples Ritz-Carlton hotels (yes, Naples has two Ritzes) recently won the Best Use of Social Media Platform Award from Travel + Leisure magazine for their use of Facebook by a resort in North America.

The Naples resorts have 26,000 Facebook fans who visit the page from around the world. The resorts actively manage the page with postings such as daily photos of the beach and question-and-answer sessions with department heads.

In addition, the Ritz recognizes Facebook fans when they book a room at either Naples resort because the page is integrated into the reservation system.

Meanwhile, the Ritz-Carlton chain also won an award for the creative use of Twitter (handle: @RitzCarlton), which sends out information about the chain's 79 hotels around the world to 22,000 followers.
