Dude, where's the party?

We haven't been invited to a party in Punta Gorda in a while and now we think we know why.

The singles scene in Punta Gorda is so bad it recently made the “10 worst cities for singles” list from personal-finance publisher Kiplinger.

OK, so we don't really depend on those party animals at Kiplinger to tell us where to go for the best singles scene. But here's the scoop on why it's not cool to be single in Punta Gorda.

According to Kiplinger's research, only four in 10 adults in Punta Gorda are unmarried, the lowest share on its list. Four in 10 are also older than 62, which narrows the field for younger singles. It doesn't help that unemployment is near 10% either.

Kiplinger's advice for party singles: Skip Punta Gorda and head for Miami.
