SARASOTA — Software firm AlphaPoint Technology named Geoff Bicknell its new chief financial officer.

Bicknell was CFO for Ybor City-based Savtira Corp. from September 2011 to December 2011. An e-commerce firm founded by onetime Sarasota businessman Tim Roberts, Savtira filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April. The U.S. Department of Labor is also investigating the firm for missed payroll and potential violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Bicknell, moreover, sued Savtira in Sarasota County Circuit Court in March. The suit alleges Savtira defaulted on a note to Bicknell worth more than $130,000. Roberts, in past statements to the Business Review, has denied the allegations against Savtira.

Sarasota-based AlphaPoint, meanwhile, develops and sells data center and IT asset management software for other businesses. The company is publicly traded over the counter (symbol: APPO, recent price: $1.03). It lost $210,000 in 2011.

Bicknell has 40 years of financial and operational management experience, with companies including Rockwell International and Lucas Industries, according to a release. “I am pleased to be joining AlphaPoint during a very exciting period in its development,” Bicknell says in the release. “My background and experience with public companies is a great fit with the company and I look forward to contributing to its strong growth.”
