TAMPA -- Mark Nash, a former Gillette Co. executive, announced he will seek the District 4 seat on the Hillsborough County Commission.

A Democrat, Nash is a Florida native who managed business accounts for Gillette across the eastern half of the U.S., according to a campaign release. He returned to the Sunshine State in 1997 to manage the Gillette shaving business at Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets. He has lived in Hillsborough County ever since he moved back.

“Like any successful business, we must develop a plan to move forward on better jobs, balanced growth management, and improve our transportation infrastructure to better meet the needs of District 4 residents,” says Nash in the press release.

Al Higginbotham, a Republican who is also commission chairman, currently holds the District 4 seat. Higginbotham, a realtor, says he intends to run for reelection.
