Home prices on a year-over-year basis continue to rise in the North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota region, according to a new report from CoreLogic released today.

The Santa Ana, Calif.-based research and analysis firm reports home prices in the region, including distressed sales, increased 3.3% in April compared to April 2011. The report also states that prices including distressed sales rose 3.2% in March over March 2011, according to revised data.

Prices increased when distressed sales were excluded, too. On that front, prices were up 3.7% in April over April 2011, and 3% in March over March 2011, the report states.

Some of the statewide data in the report favored Florida, in addition to the local improvement. For instance, Florida had the third-highest appreciation rate in the country in April, at 5.5%, according to CoreLogic. The state was behind Arizona (8.8%) and Washington D.C. (6.4%).
