SARASOTA — County commissioners are expected to consider a pair of incentive-focused economic development proposals at two meetings this week.

One proposal is listed under the code name Project Ice. The request, an economic development financial incentive grant, is for the county to provide up to $200,000 in expenses for an unnamed business to relocate and expand in Sarasota County. The Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County will present the request on behalf of the business at a meeting scheduled for July 11 at the county administration building in downtown Sarasota.

The County Commission also plans to consider a proposal under the Qualified Target Industry Tax Refund Program. Under that proposal, codenamed Project Background, the county would commit to financial support of $18,000 over six years to another unnamed business. Those funds would match the state's anticipated tax refund of $90,000, according to county officials. The proposal is an agenda item for a meeting scheduled for July 10 in Venice.
