Lee permits continue to climb

FORT MYERS — Contractors pulled 110 building permits in unincorporated Lee County in June, showing continuing improvement over 2011.

Builders pulled 56 permits for single-family homes worth a collective $10.5 million during June, according to information from the Lee County Community Development Department. That's an increase of 24% from the 45 permits builders pulled in June 2011.

Multifamily permits for the county showed the largest increase, with 29 pulled in June compared with six pulled in June 2011.

Commercial permits also increased, to a value of $4.6 million in June, up from a value of $3.2 million the same month a year prior.

Lee County issued 2,712 building permits of all types in June and 16,688 for the year to date.
