Fort Myers is gaining a reputation for the business of baseball.

Robert Coello, relief pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, recently launched a Fort Myers-based company that will make baseball bats for professionals and amateurs.

Coello's sister and longtime Fort Myers resident, Barbara Rodriguez, is the CEO of the new company, called Carrera Sports International.

The bats, which cost from $35 to $289, are available in aluminum and wood. The company has already sold 400 bats to schools and professional teams.

Coello joined the Blue Jays in December. He was previously with the Boston Red Sox, where he made his major league debut in September 2010.
