Sports Camp buys Naples gymnastic building for $1.5M

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Sports Camp Inc. purchased the 22,579-square-foot Naples Progressive Gymnastics Center for $1.5 million.

The price equated to $66 per square foot.

The Naples-based nonprofit plans to locate many of its after-school programs for children to the Pine Ridge Road location.

“What led us there is that we've always wanted to have a home base,” says Lane Beatty, president of the group. “We've been looking at it for the last 10 years. We were finally just able to put the deal together.”

The buyer plans to make few changes to the facility aside from cosmetic improvements, Beatty says. However, the Sports Club does plan to integrate gymnastics more strongly into its program itinerary because of the facility's trampolines and equipment.

Sports Camp will be raising funds to assist in paying for the facility and has mortgaged it to Encore National Bank for $1.2 million.
