SARASOTA — Enzymedica Inc., a supplements manufacturer, will expand its staff from 50 to 112 employees over the next five years, a company announcement says.

The company will receive $216,000 in incentive money from the state budget, plus another $216,000 from Sarasota County, the Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County confirmed this week.

In addition to supporting Enzymedica's hiring plans, the $432,000 will also be used to subsidize capital improvements to the firm's new facility at 771 Commerce Drive in Venice, which it bought for $1.38 million in January. CEO Scott Sensenbrenner expects to spend more than $850,000 on renovations, with a target completion date in September.

New hires at Enzymedica will work in research and development, production, customer service, sales, and support, Sensenbrenner says. The new jobs will pay an average annual wage of $41,460.

Ten years after its founding in 1998, Enzymedica generated $11.6 million in revenues. Owner Tom Bohager first mentioned his interest in moving and expanding to the Business Review in a 2009 interview (see “Digest-able,” July 30, 2009), before the company decided to relocate from Port Charlotte.
