Our story about engineering firm Stantec was barely off the press recently when the company announced another acquisition with significance for Florida.

You'll recall that the Canadian engineering firm acquired Naples-based WilsonMiller in 2010. Recently, Stantec acquired C3TS, a 150-person engineering firm in Coral Gables that specializes in transportation projects such as the Interstate 75-airport interchange in Fort Myers.

Now comes news that Stantec acquired Greenhorne & O'Mara, a Maryland-based firm with a significant presence in Florida. Greenhorne has offices in six Florida cities including Tampa with about 80 employees and is known for its work on transportation projects with the U.S. federal government.

Clearly, Stantec is counting on the fact that the recovery is under way in Florida and the firm could have as many as 800 people in the state before long.
