The resurgence in national homebuilders expanding on the Gulf Coast continues, with two new project announcements.
A starting price point in the low to mid-$200s is central to both projects, which maintains another regional trend of smaller, lower-priced homes. Several homebuilders, from local companies to bigger national firms, have expanded offerings in that price range over the last two years.
One new development comes from Centex, which says it will build 85 single-family home sites at The Reserve at Crossing Creek in Manatee County. The company, in a statement, says it will build one- and two-story homes in the community, priced from the low $200s. Construction on model homes and a sales center is scheduled to start early 2013. Centex is a division of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based PulteGroup.
Miami-based Lennar, meanwhile, plans to build 132 homes in Wilson Preserve, a community near Interstate 75 and U.S. 301 in Riverview. The company says 62 homes will be built in its Manor series of homes, while 70 will be Estate homes. The Manor series at Wilson Preserve, homes at about 1,900 square feet, will be priced from the mid-$100s to the mid-$200s, the company says in a statement. The Estate series, homes up to 3,357 square feet, will be priced higher.
