NAPLES — Health Management Associates says it has completed a deal with Integris Health to acquire 80% controlling interest in five Oklahoma hospitals. Terms were not disclosed.

Combined, the five Oklahoma hospitals have 226 beds and generated about $95 million in net revenues over the past year. About six in 10 Oklahoma residents live within 30 miles of one of the five hospitals.

Besides controlling ownership, Naples-based HMA will manage the day-to-day operations of the five Oklahoma hospitals.

HMA now operates 71 hospitals with about 10,600 beds in non-urban communities in the U.S. The company reported net income rose 19% in 2011 to $178.7 million on revenues of $5.8 billion. The company's shares are publicly traded (symbol: HMA; recent price, $7).
