Sarahs (and Saras) of the world unite

Sarah Palin and Sarah Jessica Parker seem to have little in common, save for their first name.

But here's another tie between them: They are both eligible to win a trip to Sarasota through a new contest. Sponsored by the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, the challenge, on Facebook, offers anyone named Sara — any spelling — a chance to win a trip to the city.

Entrants choose one of four themed trips, then write a short essay on why they want to come to Sarasota. The top three finalists in each category will be decided by the number of “likes” they receive on Facebook. A visitors bureau panel will select the final winners, who will be required to share photos and videos of their trip on Facebook and the visitor bureau's website, www.sarasotafl.org.

The four categories for the trip are eco/adventure/sport; arts/culture/romance; family/attractions/beaches; and culinary.

Entries for the contest are open through Oct. 21, while voting will be through Nov. 7. Winners will be announced by Dec. 1.
