FORT MYERS — Florida Gulf Coast University received a $3 million gift from Janet Cohen, a Naples resident.

Cohen and her late husband, Harvey, have supported a number of local causes over the past two decades, including the North Collier Hospital and the Holocaust Museum and Education Center of Southwest Florida. Before Cohen died in February, the pair identified the local university system as another worthy cause.

The Cohens also established a scholarship fund for FGCU in 2006.

In a release, Florida Gulf Coast University President Wilson G. Bradshaw says the Cohen's gift will be used “to enhance the university and enrich the college experience.”
