PLANS, DESCRIPTION: The Thomas M. Cooley Law School purchased 4.49 acres east of the law school's new Tampa Bay campus for $1.47 million.

The price equated to $327,282 per acre.

The Michigan law school purchased a 130,470-square-foot, single-story building on the south end of Camden Field Parkway west of Highway 301 in July for $4.9 million. The new property abuts a large retention pond west of the campus building, and includes two smaller ponds east of the building. The two properties give the school a combined campus of 13.3 acres and more than 500 parking spaces.

“We have exciting, long-range plans for our Tampa Bay campus and now have the facility, space and resources to develop an exceptional legal education environment for our students and faculty,” Jeff Martlew, associate dean of Cooley's Tampa Bay campus, says in a press release.

The new campus is scheduled to open in May.

The Thomas M. Cooley Law School is the largest law school in the nation.
