Tampa moms: Amy Lundy feels your pain. The sleepless nights, relentless crying and crippling social isolation are all things she experiences with her 9-month-old. So the new mom and entrepreneur is partnering with Tampa businesses to stop the suffering.

The former New Yorker started Small Fry Society, a program for moms with babies or infants younger than 3, with that goal in mind. Moms register for a six-week “term” — costing $199 — that includes eight events aimed at introducing them to other Bay area moms and their baby-centric woes.

Lundy's background in corporate marketing complements her business strategy. All of the events the program hosts are provided by area businesses to Small Fry Society for free. Family-friendly companies offer their products and space in exchange for marketing exposure to this demographic. Lundy has signed deals with Neiman Marcus, Yogurtology and Grillsmith for a variety of events this year.

With no overhead expenses and the favorable business arrangements, Small Fry will net almost 100% of its revenue. “The only cost is time,” says Lundy — which is no longer a problem; running a baby-based business has allowed her to bring her daughter to work. “She's my closer,” she jokes.

The company will launch its first term Sept. 21 and hopes to enroll between 20 and 25 women. Lundy hopes to expand and offer simultaneous terms by the end of the year.

Although Small Fry is only in its infancy, Lundy has high hopes. Says Lundy: “In two years I see Small Fry Society and Bun in the Oven Bunch [a parallel social network for pregnant women] as the go-to social programs for new and expecting mothers and expanding into other cities.”
