Real estate prices have fallen so steeply in Fort Myers that it's unlikely they could fall further.
That's the logic behind the latest ranking of recession-resistant cities for real estate in the U.S. in a recent column posted on Forbes.com.
Using data from Zillow.com, a Seattle-based real estate data company, the magazine's list ranks Fort Myers second on the list of 25 recession-resistant cities for real estate behind Bay City, Mich.
While we'd put our money on Fort Myers over Bay City any time, it might be a bit of a stretch to call Fort Myers “recession resistant.”
But other Gulf Coast cities made the list too, and it's always nice to get some positive press, even if it gives locals a chuckle. These included Sarasota (seventh place) and Punta Gorda (18th place).
