$3B firm buys Farmers Supply

IMMOKALEE -- The Andersons Inc. (symbol: ANDE) completed its acquisition of Immokalee Farmers Supply Inc. this week. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Immokalee Farmers provides crop-protection chemicals to specialty vegetable growers in Southwest Florida. Fred Heald, a vice president and co-owner of Farmers Supply, says the deal will “provide the additional resources needed in our markets.”

Ohio-based The Andersons Inc. is an agricultural firm with interests in grain, ethanol and plant nutrients. The company generated $3.4 billion in revenues in 2010, and has a market capitalization of roughly $678 million.
