MANATEE COUNTY — Manatee County government eliminated 54 positions this week. Since 2007, the county has reduced its total workforce by 237 jobs.
Many of the 54 terminations took place in areas of government where, according to a statement from the County, “workload no longer required as many personnel.” Additionally, 20 of the 54 positions are being vacated by staff that elected to take part in an early retirement option.
Following these staffing changes, County Administrator Ed Hunzeker will present an updated budget to Manatee County commissioners next Wednesday, June 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Manatee County Administrative Center.
