BUYER: Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees, Fort Myers

SELLER: Miromar Lakes LLC

PROPERTY: southeast corner of Ben Hill Griffin Road and FGCU Lake Parkway West, Fort Myers

PRICE: $3.8 million

LAW FIRM ON DEED: Miromar Development Corp., Estero

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: The Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees purchased 12.33 acres for $3.8 million.

The price equated to $308,191 per acre.

The school has no immediate plans for the property, which is at the northwest corner of its campus. The acquisition, however, will allow the university to grow as needed in future, says Joe Shepard, vice president for administrative services and finance.

“It was really a premier spot for us,” Shepard says. “We could use it for a variety of things, musical theater, academic buildings or even high-level administrative buildings. It would need to be something aesthetically interesting given that it's near our front entrance.”
