PORT RICHEY — Seaway Plastics Engineering held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 24,000-square-foot engineering facility in Port Richey last week. Seaway will invest $2.2 million in the new facility's construction, a release says.

Seaway is a plastic injection molding company that specializes in low-volume production with short lead times. The firm currently has 90 employees, and anticipates adding between 10 and 30 new hires once the new facility is completed.

The company was founded in Detroit in the 1970s, and moved to Port Richey in 1984. CEO Tim Smock and president Paul Bernard acquired the company from its previous owners in 2003.
