The Windsor of Lakewood Ranch is gearing up to start work on a 40-residence dementia and memory-care facility, known as Reflections at The Windsor of Lakewood Ranch.

Construction of the $7 million project will begin in July, with completion estimated for the first quarter of 2012.

The 2.5-acre site is immediately adjacent to The Windsor of Lakewood Ranch, an assisted-living facility that opened in 2006. Reflection's 35,000-square-foot, single-story building is designed to complement the architectural style of the existing Windsor.

The new building will be separated into two neighborhoods to be more intimate for patients. Both neighborhoods will feature separate open-air atriums and patios.

The building will also include a dining room and cafe, activities area, living room, art studio and a media room.

All the suites will be private and feature a handicap-accessible bathroom. A conference room in the main corridor will serve as a meeting area for various Alzheimer's support groups and other community activities.
