A $1.2 million renovation of Selby Public Library in downtown Sarasota has begun. The project will include a facelift for the inside of the building, a new location for the library's computers, a new teen center and installation of an automated check-in system. DooleyMack Constructors Inc. is the general contractor for the project.
The teen center work is being partially funded through a $50,000 grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation. The remainder of the renovation is being paid through the voter-approved penny surtax.
The project is scheduled for completion in November.
