Procacci Development Corp. is building a $10 million facility for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services just north of Tampa International Airport that will combine energy efficiency with the ability to withstand hurricane-force winds.

The Boca Raton-based developer is putting the 42,000-square-foot, single-story building on six acres at 5629 Hoover Blvd., with anticipated completion in the first quarter of 2012. An adjacent 7,500-square-foot building will offer office or retail suites for lease.

Procacci has completed two other facilities for the USCIS in Orlando and Fort Myers, with a fourth planned in Nashville, Tenn. The Tampa building will incorporate hurricane-resistant attributes to protect against water and wind damage, including a backup diesel generator.

It will also be built to meet the silver standard for the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, which will allow for minimal electricity consumption and environmental impacts.

“Like many of our tenants, USCIS and the General Services Administration are concerned about remaining operational, while reducing their environmental impact. This building does both,” says Philip Procacci, founder and CEO.
