SARASOTA — 5D Composite Inc. plans to move some of its manufacturing operations to Sarasota, adding 120 jobs to the area's economy over the next five years, according to a statement from the Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County.

The Sarasota EDC approved $100,000 in performance-based incentive grants to attract 5D to the area, the statement says.

Mark Huey, the EDC's CEO, says the jobs 5D will bring to Sarasota will include a mix of higher-wage, technology-focused manufacturing jobs, as well as sales and support staff. The company has leased 6,000 square feet of space in Sarasota's Northgate Industrial Park.

Andrew Rekret, president of 5D Composite, says he first visited Sarasota County in 1989 while vacationing at Siesta Key.

“We've been visiting every year since,” Rekret says, “and are pleased to find that the business climate is welcoming to our company, just as our family always felt welcome while vacationing in the community.”
