Business owners and executives who think Florida has an overregulated business climate have a new outlet: The Legislature itself.

In fact, through an online tool, YourVoice, the Legislature now seeks input from the public. Administered by the House Rulemaking & Regulation Subcommittee, the survey can be taken by clicking this link.

The subcommittee has already begun to go over survey responses. But it seeks more input before the legislative session starts early next year. Respondents have so far mentioned concerns about several burdensome regulations, including overlap of state, county and municipal registrations and general licensing and taxation concerns, according to a subcommittee statement. A few respondents, though, reported being pleased with the present state of regulations.

“If Florida is to become a destination for new businesses,” subcommittee Chairman Chris Dorworth, R-Lake Mary, says in a statement, “it is essential we listen to current and potential business owners and determine how we can ensure government is not hampering their ability to create jobs and contribute to Florida's economy.”
