Florida unemployment decreased further in November, down to 10% according to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The new rate is 0.4 percentage points below its October level, and down 1.9 percentage points over the year.

Florida's employers created 8,500 net jobs in November, the DEO estimates. Net jobs are up 98,100 since November 2010, a 1.4% over the year increase.

The industry that has created the most jobs over the past year is referred to by the DEO as trade, transportation and utilities, with 35,900 new net jobs. Private education and health services added 32,700 jobs, while leisure and hospitality added 28,600.

The industries with the most jobs shed: government, with 12,300 jobs eliminated; information, with 6,000 fewer jobs; and construction, with 5,900 cuts.

The Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area added 26,900 new net jobs over the year, a 2.4% increase in employment. Its unemployment rate is still above the statewide number, however, at 10.3%.

The rate is higher in Cape Coral-Fort Myers at 10.5%, despite 4,000 new jobs over the year. The North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota region has the lowest rate along the Gulf Coast, at 10.1%, and added 2,100 jobs.

Naples-Marco Island has added 100 new net jobs in the past year, and has 10% unemployment according to the latest data from the DEO.
