WCI Communities posts stronger sales

Bonita Springs-based WCI Communities, the developer and homebuilder that emerged from bankruptcy reorganization in September 2009, is reporting some success, especially on the east coast of the state.

For example, WCI started selling homes in May at Heron Bay, in Parkland near Fort Lauderdale. Since then, WCI says 60 of the 196 new homes offered for sale are already under contract.

While many homebuilders are reporting stronger sales today, it's especially striking for WCI because the company wasn't expected to survive the downturn.
