The Florida Hospital Association (FHA) says the state's health care industry continues to experience a work force shortage, adding that “more severe shortages loom in the future” as well.

By 2025, Florida will need to hire an additional 50,300 full-time registered nurses, the FHA says.

“There is a rapidly growing number of health care workers waiting to retire when the economy recovers, at a time when we expect an increase in demand for services and an even greater shortage of physicians, nurses and other health professionals,” says Bruce Rueben, FHA president, in an official release.

The Florida Hospital Association is a health care membership organization made up of 175 hospitals and health systems, 50 corporate entities, and 16 professional membership groups representing 1,300 health care professionals.
