Home prices in North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota fell 4.9% between October 2010 and the same month this year, according to CoreLogic. That decrease is more pronounced than the statewide average change, a 3.5% decrease.

Notably, Florida's prices are falling more slowly than the national average. Across the U.S., home prices fell 3.9% over the last year, CoreLogic estimates.

Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater prices are down even further, with an 8.5% decrease over the past year.

In contrast, home prices in Cape Coral-Fort Myers are actually higher, up 3% since last October.

Mark Fleming, chief economist for CoreLogic, says his firm's forecasts project “flat growth” through 2013.
