Floridians are less sure than ever about their future financial prospects, according to the University of Florida's monthly confidence survey. The survey finds that individual expectations about what personal finances will look like a year from now are at an all-time low.

Overall consumer confidence in Florida fell in April, marking the third consecutive month that confidence has gone down, according to the university's study. The university's confidence index fell four points in April, down to 68.

The index is based on five factors, four of which fell during the month. The only one that did not: Floridians maintained their modestly positive view about the U.S. economy's five-year outlook.

Chris McCarty, research director at UF, speculates that seniors are having the biggest impact on lowering confidence. Anxiety about potential cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs is impacting the state's older population, McCarty suggests.
