BUYER: M. W. Marlin LLC (principals: John and Lisa Koen), Osprey

SELLER: Fifth Third Bank

PROPERTY: 8130 Fruitville Road, Sarasota

PRICE: $1.9 million

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: John and Lisa Koen, owners of Sarasota-based Mictron Inc., purchased a 20,140-square-foot industrial building and eight vacant lots, totaling 13.4 acres, for $1.9 million.

The Koens are renovating the building with plans to relocate the parts fabricator to it.

“Mictron has been in Sarasota for 42 years,” says Lisa Koen. “It was time to expand, and we loved the building. It gave us a lot of room for additional machines and employees.”

Koen says the recession hasn't hurt the company's business and that the tough economy actually eliminated much of its smaller competition. Koen expects to add another four employees to the 25-person company over the next few months as well as add two machines.

The company also needed to relocate because its five-year lease agreement with Sarasota County on its current 9,500-square-foot facility is coming due. Mictron is scheduled to move this summer.

Mictron is a precision machine shop that makes components for machines particularly related to the aerospace, automotive and medical industries.

Nick DeVito II with Ian Black Real Estate represented the buyer and Anthony Migliore with Coldwell Banker represented the seller. Gateway Bank provided the financing for the purchase.
