U.S. Home is back

US Home lives again, but not in its former form. Miami-based national homebuilder Lennar Corp. bought US Home Corp. in 2000 — at the time the fifth largest homebuilders in the nation — for $476 million and brought the Huston-based firm under the Lennar Home brand.

Now, the U.S. Home name is back as a Lennar home brand.

Lennar's Central Florida Division has launched a “U.S. Home” brand of what it describes as affordable houses, priced from the low $100s, in two communities in the Tampa area.

The U.S. Home brand homes range from 1,353 square feet of living space to 3,181 square feet.

“Many cost-conscious home buyers, especially first-time home buyers, want more home with fewer bells and whistles,” Mark Metheny, president of Lennar's Central Florida Division, says in a press release. “The economy has taught us to broaden the market to allow more buyers to take advantage of the benefit of homeownership, low interest rates and the federal tax credit,” he said.

Lennar's U.S. Home brand homes are available in South Fork, near U.S. 301 south of Big Bend Road in Riverview, and at The Verandahs on State Road 52, west of Suncoast Parkway in Hudson.
