PLANS, DESCRIPTION: James Grainger's SamWes purchased two parcels, totaling 2,259 acres of grazing land, in Duette near State Road 64 for $12.22 million. The purchase price equated to $5,409 per acre.

The former owner FLF of Manatee Inc. was led by John and Jay Taylor, the former owners of Palmetto-based tomato grower/packer shipper Taylor & Fulton. The Taylors sold Taylor & Fulton to Grainger, Brian Turner and Ed Angrisani in early 2008.

Grainger is also the owner of Grainger Farms Inc. in Bradenton and the co-owner of Ruskin-based Tomatoes of Ruskin Inc.

SamWes mortgaged the property back to FLF of Manatee Inc. for $11.96 million.
