Peninsula Bank takes Days Inn, Veranda


BUYER IN LIEU OF FORECLOSURE: Peninsula Bank, Englewood


SELLER: Best Southwestern Motels Inc.


PROPERTY: 1700 and 625 Tamiami Trail, Venice


PRICE: $2.42 million


PREVIOUS PRICE: $1.6 million, September 1991 and $1.9 million, January 1997

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Peninsula Bank has taken back the 38-room Veranda Inn and the 73-room Days Inn in Venice in lieu of foreclosure from Best Southwestern Motels for a value of $2.42 million. According to the bank, the Veranda Inn continues to operate, and the Days Inn is being prepared to open.


“We are preparing to market both properties in the near future,” says Anthony Leo, proposed chief executive officer.


The 53,217-square-foot Days Inn was originally built in 1985 and features a pool.


The Veranda Inn & Cafe of Venice is 28,994 square feet and was originally built in 1958. It was renovated in 1988.
