Sept. 9

Florida legislative report: The Real Estate Investment Society will hold a luncheon to discuss state legislation with State Sen. Burt Saunders. Thee meeting will start at 11:45 a.m. in the Osprey Room at the Pelican Preserve Clubhouse, on Colonial Boulevard at Treeline Avenue in Fort Myers. Cost is $25 for members and $35 for guests. Profit improvement: The CEO Council of Tampa Bay will hold a breakfast meeting with Brian Beaulieu, an economist and executive director of the Institute for Trend Research. Beaulieu will discuss short- and long-term economic trends that will impact company profits. The meeting will be held at the Centre Club at 123 S. Sept. 15

Tech recruits: The Star Technology Enterprise Center will hold its first technology and light manufacturing recruiting session at 5:30 p.m. at 7887 Bryan Dairy Road, Building 100, Second Floor, Largo. The center is looking for growing manufacturing and technology companies headquartered in the Tampa Bay area that have been in operation for at least six months. It offers mentoring, management counseling, shared services, a collaborative environment, information about capital sources and low-cost rent. The event is free. Research tax credits: The Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County will hold a free meeting on tax credits from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 1212 East Ave. S., Sarasota. Kevin Corley of the Alliant Group will discuss how companies can qualify for tax credits based on their research and development spending and investment.
