Turning Silver into Gold: The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County will hold an event with Dr. Mary Furlong, an academic, entrepreneur marketer, and author of "Turning Silver Into Gold," a book focused on how to reach and be received by baby boomers. The meeting will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Michael's On East, 1212 East Ave, Sarasota. Cost is $65 per person. Should I consider declaring bankruptcy?: The Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar Association will hold a free information session for individuals experiencing financial hardship and wondering if bankruptcy should be a consideration. The meeting will run from 6 to 7:30 a.m. at the Selby Public Library, 1331 First St. in Sarasota. Erika Quartermaine, court counsel to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit of Florida, and an author and speaker on bankruptcy matters, will be presenting bankruptcy information to the public in an easy-to-understand format. Alternative planning for real urbanism: The Urban Land Institute Southwest Florida District Counsel will host a breakfast meeting on "Real Urbanism: An Alternative Planning Approach" at 8:30 a.m. at The Plantation Golf & Country Club, 10500 Dartington Drive in Fort Myers. The featured speaker will be Bernard Zyscovich, president and managing partner of Zyscovich Architects, a well-known preservationist and urbanist. Zyscovich is a co-sponsor of South Florida's first Tropical Green Conference. Cost is $5 for members, $55 for non-members, $35 for young leaders, $25 for government members, and $25 for students.
