Advertising

• Bill Pierson, CEO/principal of Clarke Advertising & Public Relations, has been named "Governor at Large" for the Florida Council of American Association of Advertising Agencies. Pierson will be responsible for representing the interests of the members in the Florida Council, which includes advertising agencies in Florida and Puerto Rico.

Accounting

• CPA Associates hired Elizabeth Peterson as tax supervisor and Michelle Armando as staff accountant in assurance services and the consulting section. Peterson previously worked as vice president of Hough & Co. and Snyder was previously with Blake Hospital.

Home services

• Tri County Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. promoted three employees. Butch Terry has been promoted to service department manager. He was previously service department supervisor. Peggy D'Amico, customer service supervisor, has taken on an expanded role in the Tri County Customer Service department, performing troubleshooting, evaluation and solution of customer service questions. Keith Van Fleet has been promoted to installation field supervisor responsible for all new residential air-conditioning systems installation. Van Fleet previously was commercial service manager.

Bar Association

• The Manatee County Bar Association recently elected and installed new officers and directors for the 2005-2006 year. Bradenton attorney Gregory S. Hagopian was installed as president; Barrett Bell with Sysco-West Coast Florida as president-elect; Mary Fabre Levine with the law office of Blalock, Walters, Held & Johnson as secretary; and Lisa Bell with the law firm of Hamrick, Perrey, Quinlan & Smith as treasurer.

Directors include Mark Nelson with the law firm of Ozark, Perron & Nelson; Adam Mohammadbhoy with the law firm of Harllee & Bald; Barbara Levin with the law firm of Harrison, Hendrickson & Kirkland; Eric Bruce with the clerk of court-child support enforcement; Angelina Colonnesso with the state attorney; James Minix with the county attorney and Gilbert Smith Jr. with the law firm of Hamrick, Perrey, Quinlan & Smith.

City Government

• The city of Sarasota hired Pamela Keyes as deputy public works director. Keyes previously worked for the Culver City, Calif., for nine years. She was the director of public works for two years, deputy director of maintenance operations for three years and an associate civil engineer for four years.

Design

• Judy Adams Hunt of EuroTech Cabinetry Inc. in Sarasota has received the first-place award in the Small Kitchen Category of the 2005 National Kitchen and Bath Association Design Competition. Hunt also received the award for Best Overall Kitchen, surpassing the first-place winners in all other kitchen categories.

Human Resources

• GevityHR, a comprehensive employee management solutions provider, announced the appointed of Clifford M. Sladnick to the newly created position of chief administrative officer. Sladnick will be responsible for the company's capital management functions, including corporate finance, long-term capital strategy, corporate life-cycle management and investor relations, overseeing the company's legal affairs and regulatory compliance matters and the merger, acquisition, joint venture and alliance functions of the company. He previously worked for the Dresner Companies, an investment bank in Chicago, where he was a managing director and acquisition advisory practice leader.

• Whitney C. Glaser an associate with the Kirk Pinkerton law firm taught a 12-hour course on legal rights and remedies for students at the USF Senior Academy. Glaser practices in personal injury and wrongful death.

Restaurants

• First Watch Restaurants Inc. has promoted Kevin Hall to director of brand. Hall previously served as director of operations for the Tampa and Orlando area restaurants. In the newly created director of brand position, Hall continues to develop First Watch's menu and oversee quality control as he assumes additional marketing, advertising, and customer relations responsibilities.
