Howard joins Solomon Tropp

as shareholder and litigator

Former Carlton Fields PA shareholder Mark Howard has joined Tampa's Solomon Tropp Law Group PA as a shareholder.

Howard practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, prescription drug and medical device defense, products liability defense, construction litigation, real estate litigation and family law

A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Howard earned a law degree in 1988 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Liz Gierbolini named

partner at Zinober & McCrea

Liz Gierbolini has been named as partner at Tampa's Zinober & McCrea PA. She focuses on labor and employment law defense. She's a graduate of Florida State University, with both her undergraduate and law degrees from the school.

Patent lawyer elected

to American Law

Carlton Fields PA attorney Andrew Greenberg is a newly elected member of the American Law Institute, which works for the betterment of law. Greenberg concentrates on patent law with a focus in the computer industry.

Miller as associate

Alison Miller is a new associate in the Tampa office of Phelps Dunbar LLP. She practices in the regional business practice group. A graduate of Trinity University she earned a law degree and a master's degree in business administration from Stetson University.

William Banks and Astrid Guardado are new associates in the Tampa Bay office of Becker & Poliakoff PA.

Banks, an immigration lawyer, focuses mostly on legal issues that affect employers. He earned bachelor's and law degrees from Stetson University.

Guardado practices in the area of complex civil litigation with an emphasis on construction, real estate, commercial and employment litigation, insurance defense and appellate. A graduate of the University of South Florida, she earned a law degree from Memphis State University.

Ambler appointed to

Commission on Tourism

Florida Rep. Kevin Ambler, a Lutz attorney, has been appointed to serve as the House representative to the state's Commission on Tourism. Ambler, who was re-elected in November to a second term, served as vice chairman of the House Tourism Committee from 2002-04.

Hillsborough bar honors

elementary school students

Members of the Hillsborough County Bar Association's community liaison committee recently honored students at West Tampa Elementary School.

Since the beginning of this school year, committee members have volunteered to mentor students at the school, ranked at the D-level by state officials.

Each month the committee sponsors a party for students who improve significantly in any area in which they are struggling, whether grades, discipline or attendance.

two associates in Tampa

Christopher W. Brewer and Lori V. Vaughan have been promoted to senior counsel in the Tampa office of Foley & Lardner LLP.

Brewer, who practices in the business law department, is a member of the firm's real estate and transactional and securities practice groups. A graduate of Emory University, he earned a law degree from the University of Florida.

Vaughn, who practices in the litigation department, is a member of the firm's business reorganizations practice group. A graduate of Eckerd College, she earned a law degree from the University of Florida.

Tampa attorney Richard Jacobson is a newly elected member of the international programs advisory board at the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Jacobson, a shareholder at Fowler White Boggs Banker PA, practices international tax and business law.
