Nominees for the '2005 Young Lawyer Award'
• E. Keith Dubose, a shareholder at Matthews Eastmoore Hardy Crauwels & Garcia PA, was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1996. He's a graduate of Duke University and the University of Florida. He serves as president of the Sarasota County Educational Assistance Program, a homework assistance and social enhancement program, and also volunteers at the United Way and Salvation Army. The Sarasota County Bar Association recognized him in 1999 with the C.L. McKaig award for community service.
• Victoria J. Karins, 35, has her own firm, Victoria Jaensch Karins PA. A graduate of the University of South Florida and St. Thomas Law School, she was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1995. She specializes in immigration law. She's a member of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Florida chapter and Young Professionals.
• Thomas B. Luzier, 38, of Dunlap & Moran, is a graduate of Emory University and Cumberland School of Law. He specializes in real property law, real estate finance, title insurance, business transactions and corporate law. He's on the board of the Greater Sarasota Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Sarasota County Tourist Development Council. He's a founder and co-chair of the Sarasota Architectural Foundation Inc. and past chair of the City of Sarasota Historic Preservation Board.
• Anne Leah Weintraub, 27, is with Icard, Merrill, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg PA. She's a graduate of the University of South Florida and Stetson University. She's a member of the Women's Council of Realtors, the Downtown Partnership of Sarasota and the Sarasota County Bar Association. Community service includes work on behalf of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Legal Aid of Manasota, the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, United Cerebral Palsy, Make-A-Wish and the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
• Alison H. Haskins, 33, is with Livingston, Patterson & Strickland PA. She's a graduate of Duke University and the University of Florida. She specializes in real property and commercial transactions. She's a board member of Riverview High School Championship Academy and she participates in legal clinics through the Board of Governors and Sarasota County Bar Association. She has assisted with community projects, such as mock trials for students, a speech contest for high schoolers and Holidays in July, benefiting local foster children. She provides pro bono legal help to Girls Inc.
• Sherri Lynn Johnson, 31, is with Dent & Johnson. A graduate of the University of Florida, she specializes in appellate practice and property tax law. She says she has set more appellate decisions than anyone she knows. She's past president of the Sarasota Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, membership director of FAWL, membership chair of the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court and director of the women's networking club.
• Patrick William Ryskamp, 30, is a shareholder at Williams Parker Harrison Dietz & Getzen. He has a degree in economics from Mary Washington College and a law degree from Stetson University. He's a member of the Young Professionals Group of Sarasota and the Home Builder's Association of Sarasota County. He participates in mentorship programs at the firm, and he's past president of the board of directors for the Smith Center for Therapeutic Riding Inc.
• Scott Westheimer, 33, is a partner with Syprett, Meshad, Resnick, Lieb, Dumbaugh, Jones, Krotec & Westheimer PA. A graduate of the University of Florida, he specializes in personal injury and commercial litigation. He's past president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar, a member of the board of governors of the Florida Bar's 12th Circuit Young Lawyer's Division, a director of the Young Lawyers Division for the 12th Circuit and a member of the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court. He volunteers with United Cerebral Palsy, United Way, Pet Rescue and Wellness Community.
