Experts to discuss issues

of elderly at seminar

Stetson University College of Law is hosting a May 4 seminar on elder fraud at the school's Gulfport campus, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Speakers from governmental agencies will discuss Medicaid fraud, identity theft, cyber-fraud and other consumer matters.

"Consumer fraud is a growing problem, especially for our senior citizens," Rebecca Morgan, director of the college's Center for Excellence in Elder Law, said in a prepared statement. "Learning more about these frauds and how to avoid being a victim is one important way seniors can protect themselves."

Attorney General Crist to

address graduating class

Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist will be the keynote speaker at the May 15 spring commencement at Stetson University College of Law. The outdoor ceremony begins at 9 a.m.

About 200 students will receive degrees, including St. Petersburg attorney Alvin Brown, a former CIA security officer, who has earned an LL.M., master of law.

And then there's Steve Morgan, a retired Marine Corps colonel, who will receive a juris doctor degree. He started at Stetson the same year his daughter graduated from the law school.

Palo Alto lawyer joins

Hill Ward & Henderson

Richard W. Bachmann is a new associate at Tampa's Hill, Ward & Henderson P.A. Bachmann formerly worked at the Palo Alto, Calif., law firm of Brobeck Phleger & Harrison. He will practice in Hill Ward's corporate securities and acquisitions group.
