Ruden McClosky adds
lawyer in St. Petersburg office
Justin Zinzow joined the St. Petersburg office of Ruden McClosky where he will practice in the firm's litigation group. Zinzow is a graduate of the Stetson University College of Law.
Nominating commission seeks
applications for judicial seat
The statewide nominating commission for judges of compensation claims is accepting applications for the judge of compensation claims in the Tampa district office. The vacancy was created by the announced retirement of Judge William Douglas, effective March 6, 2004.
Applicants must submit an original application with two copies to Commission Chair Victor Marrero, 1560 Sawgrass Corporate Parkway, Suite 300, Sunrise, Fla., 33345-9010. (954) 838-3451.
Interviews for the position will take place Nov. 3.
Young Lawyers to recruit Big Brother Big Sister volunteers
The Sarasota Bar Association Young Lawyers Division will host a membership drive Oct. 11 to recruit young lawyers to serve as a "Big in School." Volunteers will mentor children in a school setting for the remainder of the school year. YLD board member William Drum, (941) 366-8100, can provide additional information.
Sixth Circuit Gaurdian
program seeks volunteers
New classes for the Sixth Circuit's Gaurdian ad Litem program will begin at 6 p.m., Oct. 21, and will continue for five weeks from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. GAL volunteers serve as advocates for children involved in court proceedings.
Florida Bar seeks
nominations
The Florida Bar seeks nominations by Sept. 26 for pro bono awards including the President's Pro Bono Service Award for an attorney in each of the judicial circuits; the Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award to be given to one attorney statewide; the Chief Justice's Law Firm Commendation and the Voluntary Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award.
