TAMPA — Verdex Construction has planned a May 22 groundbreaking for The Pointe on Westshore, a $100 million, 444-unit luxury apartment community in south Tampa being developed by Westshore Point LLC, a venture between Jupiter-based Index Investment Group and local developer Richard Coley.

West Palm Beach-based Verdex, in a press release, says the development — on a 23-acre site at 4950 West Prescott St., near MacDill Air Force Base — will also include 28 carriage homes and a two-story, 11,000-square-foot clubhouse that features two pools and a fitness center.

“With dramatic population growth across Florida, it’s logical that Verdex should expand its core market geography beyond Florida’s east coast, so we can bring our brand promise of ‘Building Something Better’ to other parts of the state,” Verdex Construction President Rex Kirby states in the release. “Index Investments is a great partner, and we look forward to being a key component of their goal to bring top-quality, new residential options to Tampa.”

The Pointe on Westshore is expected to be completed in February 2021, the release states.
