Assure Infusions, a Winter Haven-based pharmaceutical company, is building a 60,000-square-foot facility in Polk County and creating more than 100 jobs in the process.
Assure, which launched early this year, produces IV fluid products. According to the company’s website, its bags include sodium chloride, dextrose, lactated ringers and sterile water.
The facility will be built in Bartow and is scheduled to open next year. It will be fully automated with advanced robotics, and the company expects to bring more than 100 jobs.
Alex Lucio, Assure’s CEO, says the company is investing $20 million on the facility.
“To the best of our knowledge, we will be the only IV pharmaceutical manufacturer sterilizing onsite which will allow us to meet demand faster,” Lucio says in an email to the Business Observer. “IV fluids are routinely on backorder as demand stays high and supply is limited.”
Lucio says in the email that the company is still in discussions with the state about incentives, but that the Central Florida Development Council and the city of Bartow have committed to providing sales tax abatement for a period of time as well as concessions on utilities, impact fees and “things of that nature.”
In addition, he says the city helped Assure get the land it needed and will help it get through the permitting and land use process quickly.
“This was more valuable to us than economic incentives because time delays always have an economic component to them.”
