Collier County’s largest private-sector employer is expected to expand its payroll even further after it begins occupying a new headquarters building in Naples later this year.

Arthrex Inc.’s six-story headquarters, totaling 300,000 square feet and connected to a 1,400-space parking garage, is part of a three-building project that the medical device maker has constructed on its existing campus. The company also has developed a 160-room, four-story hotel and a two-story, 38,000-square-foot “wellness and medical center” that includes an employee fitness center and health clinic, spin and yoga studios and an Arthrex merchandise store.

A 3-acre park with walking and biking paths and a 1,000-square-foot pavilion for outdoor events will connect the trio of new buildings.

The company demolished three smaller buildings on its 1250 Creekside Way campus in early 2018 to make way for the new headquarters, which ranks as one of the region’s largest new mixed-use real estate projects of the past decade.

“We remain committed to expanding in Southwest Florida,” Arthrex Founder and President Reinhold Schmieding said in a November 2017 statement announcing the new project.

Arthrex committed to hiring 560 new employees as part of the headquarters’ expansion. Since 2015, the company has added 1,000 new workers in Collier County, and it and its vendors have injected more than $1 billion into the local economy.

Schmieding adds that the new corporate headquarters is projected to accommodate Arthrex’s growth for the next decade.

In addition to Naples, Arthrex maintains offices or operations in nearly two dozen countries around the world, including in Mexico, Poland, France, Italy, Denmark, Croatia, Singapore and the Czech Republic.

Company officials did not respond to repeated requests for comment about its new headquarters, when Arthrex would begin occupying it or whether it would vacate leased office space in Bonita Springs.

But county economic development officials say Arthrex’s impact cannot be overstated.

“The type of jobs they create add value to the economy here,” says Jace Kentner, director of Business and Economic Development for Collier County. “They’re not a franchise; they’re not headquartered somewhere else. Their growth here is organic growth.”
