Naples rehab hospital, nearing construction completion, names CEO

The facility is expected to open in July.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Naples, in the final stages of construction, recently named Enid Gonzalez, who has decades of rehab care leadership experience, its first CEO.  

The 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, under construction at 14305 Colliers Blvd., is expected to begin caring for patients in July, according to a statement. Gonzalez will be responsible for overseeing the future hospital’s day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality. The hospital will provide 24-hour nursing care and physical, occupational and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and complex orthopedic conditions.

“Enid is a highly accomplished leader with extensive healthcare experience at Encompass Health and other health systems, and we are honored she has accepted the role as CEO of the future Encompass Health hospital in Naples,” says Lori Bedard, the president of Encompass Health’s Southeast region, in a statement. “She has excelled in numerous leadership roles in a rapidly changing health care environment, and I am confident in her vision for the new hospital.”

Gonzalez most recently served as CEO at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Manati in Puerto Rico, for four years. She also previously served as associate administrator for Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the release states, where she led operations for several specialties, including the Rehabilitation and Neurology Units and Physical Medicine and Orthopedic Multidisciplinary Center. Prior to that role, she served as director of therapy operations at Encompass Health of Manati for nine years and as interim CEO.

Encompass Health offers both facility‑based and home‑based patient care through its network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, home health agencies and hospice agencies. Its national footprint includes 147 hospitals, 251 home health locations and 96 hospice locations in 42 states and Puerto Rico.
