ST. PETERSBURG — Naked Farmer, which launched in March as a digital farmers market concept, is opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant on May 28 at 200 Central Ave. in downtown St. Petersburg.
Customers will be able to dine in the restaurant or order locally sourced food for delivery or pickup, according to a press release.
Naked Farmer Founder Jordan Johnson, in a statement, says he started the business because the food system is broken, with too many people unable to procure healthy, fresh, locally produced food at reasonable prices. He spent eight months working with local farmers to develop a supply chain that could sustain his “fine-fast restaurant” business model.
“Florida has rich farmland, with amazing produce grown in our backyards,” Johnson states in the release. “We set out to create a system of local sourcing that connects communities with their local farmers rather than the long-haul supply chain. We are proud to invite customers on our journey to becoming 100% local.”
The restaurant will serve farm-fresh food cooked from scratch, with an emphasis on fresh vegetables that were harvested as little as 24 hours ahead of being served. The menu includes pecan kale Caesar, 100% grass-fed steak, and watermelon mint and feta salad.
Naked Farmer meals cost as little as $10, the release states. Locally sourced beer and wine will also be available.
