Local entrepreneur wins another award

The Review's 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year is getting some statewide recognition.

Eric Baird, founder of Bradenton-based MyUs.com, a shipping and mail forwarding company, recently received the Governor's Business Diversification Award for Export Excellence. The award recognizes companies statewide that create jobs and increase capital investment.

Baird founded MyUs.com in 1997, initially calling the company Access USA Shipping. It found a niche early on selling mailboxes stateside for ex-patriots and soldiers living all over the world. In the last three years, however, the company has found its biggest success in shipping products globally.

Company revenues are up 152% since 2006, from $10.3 million to $26 million in 2008. Its employee base has grown from 30 in 2006 to 50 this year and profits are also up, as much as 65% in 2008 over 2007 and 30% in the first quarter of 2009 as compared to the first quarter last year.

“This award means so much to us,” Baird says in a press release. “MyUs.Com is committed to supporting the Florida economy.”
