CLEARWATER — Tech Data has promoted John O’Shea, a nearly 20-year veteran of the Clearwater technology distribution firm, to president of the Americas.
O’Shea, according to a press release, previously served as head of Tech Data’s global lifecycle management division. He succeeds Joe Quaglia, who retired.
O’Shea’s career also includes a stint as president of Vology, another Tampa Bay area tech firm.
“We are thrilled for John to lead the Americas region at such a pivotal moment in Tech Data’s history as we embark on our exciting next chapter of expansion and transformation as a private company,” Tech Data CEO Rich Hume states in the release. “Throughout his career, John has proven himself as a strong leader with extensive industry experience and operational acumen. This expertise combined with an unwavering commitment to our channel partners and shared values make him a natural fit to lead our Americas region.”
Hume adds, via the release, “As we welcome John to the role, we also want to thank Joe for his outstanding leadership and countless contributions to Tech Data’s success over the years.”
An affiliate of private equity firm Apollo Global Management acquired Tech Data earlier this year. Prior to that, the company was the largest publicly traded company headquartered in Tampa Bay, with gross revenues of nearly $37.24 billion in 2019, up from $33.6 billion in 2018.
